Nancy Derange – Founder of Thee Boujee Butcher
Nancy Derange is a proud Cree woman from Fort McMurray, Alberta, whose deep cultural roots and strong family values shape everything she does. As the founder of Thee Boujee Butcher, Nancy blends generations of Indigenous knowledge with modern butchery techniques, honed through her training at SAIT where she graduated as an honor roll student.
Her business is built on sustainability, minimal waste, and cultural revitalization—specializing in wild game processing that honours traditional harvesting and Indigenous foodways. Nancy’s vision extends beyond the butcher block: through Thee Boujee Butcher, she is creating a community hub that empowers Indigenous youth, offers hands-on learning, and celebrates the richness of Indigenous food traditions.
Nancy is an active member of the Northeastern Alberta Aboriginal Business Association
(NAABA), and her commitment to cultural and economic development is reflected in her
participation in the ATC Cultural Festival and the Chamber of Commerce Fall Tradeshow. She is currently working toward building youth mentorship opportunities through programs like the Alberta Youth Employment Incentive (AYEI), with plans to offer meaningful work experience rooted in culture, skill, and pride.
Every cut, every workshop, and every partnership reflects Nancy’s dedication to community, tradition, and the future of Indigenous excellence—guided by strong family values and the strength of generations.
